- ‘Give Red, Give Life’: WKU vs. MTSU Blood Drive Nov. 13-15: WKU and the surrounding communities can now schedule an appointment to give blood during the WKU vs. MTSU Blood Drive competition from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 13-15 at WKU’s Preston Health and Activities Center.
- WKU Foundation receives payment to fund the Graves Gilbert Clinic Endowment Fund for Excellence in Healthcare: A Graves Gilbert Clinic Endowment Fund for Excellence in Healthcare has recently been established through a partnership with WKU and the College of Health and Human Services. The fund was established through a $100,000 payment made by the Graves Gilbert Clinic to the WKU Foundation and will be used to support the priority initiatives of the College of Health and Human Services.
- WKU to celebrate International Education Week Nov. 6-10: WKU will celebrate International Education Week (IEW) Nov. 6-10 with a dynamic calendar of events that emphasize the importance of fostering cultural awareness and preparing WKU students to become productive, engaged and socially responsible citizen-leaders of a global society.
- ‘An Evening With’ program Nov. 14 to feature conversation about opioid epidemic: Dr. Todd R. Cheever, a WKU alumnus and associate dean of the new University of Kentucky College of Medicine–Bowling Green Campus, will be the featured guest during “An Evening With” on Nov. 14 at WKU’s Augenstein Alumni Center.

WKU participating in Mix It Up at Lunch Day on Oct. 31: Mix It Up at Lunch Day is an international campaign by Teaching Tolerance, an organization that strives to reduce prejudice, improve intergroup relations and support equitable school experiences. With leadership from Chief Diversity Officer Lynne Holland, WKU has been registered as a Mix It Up school and will be participating in the international Mix It Up at Lunch Day on Oct. 31.
- WKU Board of Regents to meet Oct. 27: The WKU Board of Regents will conduct its fourth quarterly meeting on Friday, Oct. 27.
- WKU Admissions hosting events for prospective students & their families: WKU is taking its DiscoverWKU events across the United States this fall. Coming up: Somerset, Oct. 26; Nashville, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. Register online at http://www.wku.edu/discoverwku/
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. - Women’s basketball: Tashia Brown Earns Spot on 2017-18 Preseason All-C-USA Team: Senior forward Tashia Brown has been named to the 2017-18 Preseason All-C-USA Team in a vote by the league’s head coaches as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning, joining fellow Lady Topper Ivy Brown on the prestigious list.
- Men’s basketball: Johnson Named to Second Straight All-C-USA Preseason Team: WKU senior forward Justin Johnson has been named to the Conference USA Men’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team for the second straight season, as announced Tuesday by the league office.
- Men’s golf: Easton Tallies Third Straight Top-Five Finish in Georgia: WKU junior Stuart Easton registered his third straight top-five finish Tuesday as the Hilltopper Golf team placed fourth at Kennesaw State’s Pinetree Intercollegiate. Easton was one of three Hilltoppers in the top 15 individually, tying for fifth with an even-par 144 (72-72) tally at the par-72, 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga.

Football: Practice Report: Over the past two weeks, Mike White has helped orchestrate the WKU offense to 80 points and a pair of Conference USA wins. Against Charlotte and Old Dominion, the senior quarterback was a combined 57-for-81 for 702 yards with 10 touchdowns. He sat out the fourth quarter against the 49ers because of a 31-point cushion, then led a furious comeback in the final frame in Norfolk to erase a 10-point deficit. - Sanford: ‘Landshark’ defense plus Briles offense equals FAU success: When Mike Sanford flipped on the tape of the Florida Atlantic football team, he immediately recognized what he saw. “When (Lane Kiffin) hired Kendall Briles, I knew that that Baylor offense was gonna be fully implemented at FAU,” the first-year WKU coach said. “That’s exactly what you see on tape.”
