WKU AHEC offering pharmacy technician certification training

The South Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC) at WKU is offering training to prepare participants to sit for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination.

To be eligible, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, disclose all criminal and State Board of Pharmacy registration licensure actions and comply with all certification policies.

The exam, administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), is a written test that samples candidates’ knowledge base related to the responsibilities and activities of pharmacy technicians.

Kentucky does not require pharmacy technicians to be certified, but is among the states that recognize PTCB certification. Individual employers may require certification.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from Feb. 11 to May 6. Classes will be in room 117 of the WKU South Campus. The $200 fee covers registration and the book.
