Five WKU students are part of the 2014-2015 class in the National Student Exchange, a not-for-profit education consortium that provides affordable and practical opportunities for students to study and live at another member university.
WKU senior Jordan Currie, a chemistry major from Rockfield, is working on environmental studies in Arizona as part of the National Student Exchange program.
Christie Dunn, a sophomore exercise science major from Loretto, studied at the University of Hawaii at Manoa during the fall 2014 semester. Jordan Currie, a senior chemistry major from Rockfield, and Leah Turner, a senior agriculture major from Ary, began a two-semester exchange in the fall: Currie at the University of Arizona in Tucson and Turner at Murray State University. Both are completing their exchange studies this semester.
Blaine Ottman, a sophomore management major from Haubstadt, Ind., and Emily Wood, a junior in family and consumer sciences major from Louisville, also began a semester exchange this semester. Ottman is studying at the University of Texas – San Antonio, and Wood is studying at Queens College in New York City.
The exchange program is coordinated through the WKU Office of Study Away. NSE allows students to study for a semester or an academic year at one of nearly 200 schools around the United States and Canada. WKU students continue to earn their degrees while taking courses that complement their WKU coursework.
During its 45-year history, NSE has enabled more than 100,000 students to exchange among the member institutions. WKU joined the NSE in November 2012.
Applications for fall 2015 exchanges are accepted until Feb. 14 with placement announcements expected in mid-March.
