KD Shenanigans on Oct. 8 to raise money for child abuse prevention

Kappa Delta sorority at WKU is hosting the 22nd annual dance competition “Shenanigans” to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America and Bowling Green’s local Family Enrichment Center. Shenanigans will be at 7 p.m. Monday (Oct. 8) in Van Meter Auditorium.

This year’s Shenanigans theme is “Disney Mania.” A number of campus organizations will create unique dance routines to Disney-themed soundtracks. Each group participating must pair up with another organization, for a chance to win money for their own philanthropy. Money collected from entry fees and admissions help to raise $5,000 each year for Prevent Child Abuse America initiatives. As an added bonus, one particular campus organization will receive a surprise gift at the end of competition.

“To date, the Kappa Delta’s at WKU have donated over $50,000 to the local Family Enrichment Center,” said Sandra Pence, financial coordinator at the FEC. It is success of events like Shenanigans that allow large contributions to the center.

Founded in 1897, Kappa Delta adopted Prevent Child Abuse America as a national philanthropy in 1972. Kappa Delta members have raised over $10.6 million to make a difference in the lives of children at risk in communities across the country.
