Student art on display through Nov. 19

The WKU Department of Art’s 2010 Student Juried Exhibition is open at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Gallery through Nov. 19. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This yearly exhibition showcases much of the strongest work produced by students in the WKU Department of Art. Two outside jurors select the pieces included and decide upon awards. An additional award is sponsored and presented by the Bowling Green World’s Greatest Studio Tour.

This year’s juror for studio art was Kristi Hargrove, Assistant Professor of Fine Art at the Watkins College of Art, Design and Film in Nashville, Tenn. The graphic design juror was Matthew Wilson, art director for the Bowling Green office of Werkshop Marketing.

Both jurors commented on the quality of the work, and congratulated all students on their submissions. “I was struck by the ambition of all the entries and I am continuously in awe of the willingness of artists to open up to the daunting process of critique and judgment,” Hargrove said.
