- Professor receives grant from Jessie Ball duPont Fund for Service Dog Awareness Program: Dr. Darbi Haynes-Lawrence, an Associate Professor of Child & Family Studies in the College of Health & Human Services, has received a grant from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund to support her Service Dog Awareness Program.
- Board of Regents to hold committee meetings Jan. 26: The committees of the WKU Board of Regents will meet Jan. 26, beginning at 9 a.m. The meetings will be in the Martin Regents Room of Jody Richards Hall.

- Men’s basketball: Tops Take Sole Possession of C-USA Lead with 77-69 Win Over UAB: WKU sits alone atop the Conference USA standings after defeating UAB 77-69 on Thursday night at E.A. Diddle Arena. With UAB up 67-64 with 4:36 to play, the Hilltoppers (14-5 overall, 6-0 C-USA) went on an 11-0 run to surge ahead and were able to ice the victory at the free-throw line. Next: WKU vs. MTSU at 6 p.m. Saturday at Diddle Arena. The game has already been announced as a sellout.
- Women’s basketball: Stout WKU Defense Leads Lady Toppers Past UTSA, 73-38, on Education Day: WKU posted its best defensive outing of the season, holding UTSA to just 20 percent shooting from the field, and outscored the Roadrunners 37-16 in the second half to earn a 73-38 win on Education Day inside E.A. Diddle Arena on Thursday afternoon. Next: Lady Toppers (13-5, 4-1 C-USA) open a three-game road trip at Marshall at noon Sunday.
- Track & Field: Vanderbilt Invitational Up Next for WKU: WKU Track & Field is back in action this weekend at the fifth annual Vanderbilt Invitational today and Saturday inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. The Hilltoppers opened the 2017-18 indoor campaign in Nashville, Tenn., back on Dec. 2.
- Softball: WKU Picked Seventh in C-USA Preseason Coaches Poll: Just three weeks out from opening day of the 2018 softball season, Conference USA has announced its Preseason All-Conference Team and Coaches Poll with WKU predicted to finish seventh this year. With head coach Amy Tudor at the helm of the Hilltopper program entering her fifth season on The Hill, the Red and White return 10 letterwinners from last year’s 31-win squad. More: 2018 schedule

- Bridal Expo to provide wedding planning resources: Brides-to-be struggling through the daunting task of preparing a wedding can get some help at this weekend’s SOKY Bridal Expo. The expo’s website, sokybridal expo.com, lists more than 90 vendors. The expo will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at WKU’s Knicely Conference Center.
- Tops keep streak alive, hold off UAB 77-69: WKU got an absolute fight Thursday from visiting Alabama Birmingham, but the Hilltoppers found a way to pull out a 77-69 win at E.A. Diddle Arena.
- Lady Toppers Cruise to Big Win: The WKU women’s basketball team bounced back from its first conference loss of the season by beating UTSA on Thursday in Bowling Green. The Lady Toppers (13-5, 4-1) took the lead for good almost halfway through the first quarter and never trailed again en route to a 73-38 win over UTSA (3-14, 1-4).
