  • YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan will perform at WKU on Feb. 2.

    YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan bringing new show to WKU: This winter, YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan will bring their “genuinely theatrical experience” to the United States for a 30-city tour of THE CHALLENGERS. The U.S. appearances – from Jan. 18-March 19 – are part of their 2017-2018 world tour celebrating the Taiko troupe’s 25th anniversary. Stops in the U.S. range from colleges and universities to large performing arts venues, spanning the entire nation from Maine to California. YAMATO will perform at WKU’s Van Meter Hall at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 as part of the 2017-18 Cultural Enhancement Series.

  • Winter Term Intersession Parking and Transit Changes: Here’s a reminder from WKU Parking & Transportation about intersession services in effect through Jan. 19. Normal parking regulations resume at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 21; full transit services resume at 7:15 a.m. Jan. 22. More: Winter Term parking map
  • WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU’s Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

  • Lady Topper Basketball opens C-USA action tonight against MTSU at Diddle Arena.

    Women’s basketball: Lady Toppers Open C-USA Play Against Rival Middle Tennessee Tonight: With non-conference play behind it, WKU is set to open the 2017-18 C-USA season inside E.A. Diddle Arena at 7 (CT) this evening against archrival Middle Tennessee as the Lady Toppers (9-4) seek their fourth straight victory in the longtime rivalry. More: Event parking

  • Football: Mike White Headed to 2018 NFL Scouting Combine: One day after his engagement, former WKU quarterback Mike White received more good news in the form of an invitation to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine, held March 2-5 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. White also will be participating in the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl Jan. 27 in Mobile, Ala. Practices for the game begin Jan. 23. Both the senior bowl and combine can be seen on NFL Network.
  • Track & Field: Nigel Bigbee Joins Hilltopper Staff as Jumps and Hurdles Coach: WKU Track & Field head coach Erik Jenkins has announced the hiring of Nigel Bigbee as an assistant coach who will work primarily with the Hilltopper jumpers and hurdlers. Bigbee, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, joins the Red and White following coaching stops at Iowa Central Community College, Barton Community College and Nebraska where he has mentored 41 individual national champions since 2009.

  • Search for new WKU leaders advances: National searches are underway to replace WKU’s outgoing provost and dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Lady Toppers kick off C-USA play against rival MTSU: The defending Conference USA champions begin their quest to repeat winning that crown by playing against the one team picked to finish ahead of them in the preseason poll. Although preseason rankings mean nothing, it does help that the first conference opponent is WKU’s biggest rival.
