  • Women’s basketball: WKU Defeats Mississippi Valley State, 87-48, for Fifth Straight Win: Tashia Brown scored a game-high 26 points and was one of four Lady Toppers in double figures as WKU cruised past Mississippi Valley State, 87-48, on Tuesday evening inside E.A. Diddle Arena. Next: WKU will return to action at the 2017 West Palm Beach Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The Lady Toppers are set to take on two strong non-conference foes in Stetson (Saturday at 11 a.m. CT) and Toledo (Sunday at 10 a.m. CT) during the event.
  • Volleyball: Lucas Earns Senior CLASS Award First-Team All-America Status: After becoming just the second player in WKU Volleyball history to be named a finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award, setter Jessica Lucas has earned First-Team All-America status, the committee announced Tuesday. Lucas is the first Lady Topper to land on the award’s top team as Ashley Potts finished on the second team. More: Cavanaugh Earns Third-Team All-American Status; Lucas & Anderson Named Honorable Mention
  • Football: WKU vs. Georgia State in AutoNation Cure Bowl on Saturday: Defensive back Marcus Ward and this class of WKU Football seniors head into the 2017 AutoNation Cure Bowl with 37 overall wins and three consecutive bowl game victories. They will have a chance to add one more on top of each of those numbers with a 1:30 CT kickoff Saturday and the Birmingham, Ala., native is not downplaying the importance of that opportunity. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
  • Volleyball: Hudson Named AVCA National Coach of the Year Finalist: After securing back-to-back American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) South Region Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career, WKU Volleyball head coach Travis Hudson has earned one of the 10 spots on the National Coach of the Year ballot again in 2017. Coach Hudson and the nine other finalists will be in attendance when the nation’s top coach is announced at the AVCA Convention’s Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon on Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.
  • Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Face Formidable Road Test at Wisconsin: After having its four-game winning streak snapped with Sunday’s 89-84 loss at Ohio, WKU will try to get back on track at Wisconsin at 7 CT tonight in Madison, Wis. The game will air on FS1 and the Hilltopper IMG Sports Network.
  • Athletics: 35 WKU Student-Athletes Receive Diplomas During Fall Commencement: Thirty-five current and former Hilltopper and Lady Topper student-athletes received their diplomas from WKU over the weekend, and the cumulative grade point average of the 35 was a 3.01. The 35 student-athletes represented 11 different sport programs with degrees ranging from criminology and management to finance and biology.
  • Soccer: Chua Earns C-USA Fall Spirit of Service Award: Senior Hannah Chua has been selected as a recipient of the 2017 C-USA Fall Spirit of Service Award as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon in recognition of her contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the Bowling Green community at large.

WKU in the News

  • WKU’s offense will look to exploit Georgia State’s pass defense in the Cure Bowl: WKU’s final offensive performance of the season may be one that needs to rely heavy on the pass and the arm of senior quarterback Mike White. Georgia State (6-5), WKU’s opponent at 1:30 p.m. CT Saturday in the Cure Bowl, has a solid defensive unit overall. But where the Panthers may be most-susceptible is in defending the pass.
