  • CJ Nichols spoke during the Campus Celebration of WKU Philanthropy on Nov. 15. She and her husband, George, have made a gift that will support diversity initiatives at WKU.

    WKU fundraising unit changes name, announces award, recognizes gift: WKU’s Division of Development & Alumni Relations, the advancement arm of the University, revealed its name change and rebranding as Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement on Wednesday (Nov. 15), National Philanthropy Day. Additionally, Laura Turner Dugas was named the 2017 Philanthropist of the Year and a gift from alumni George and CJ Nichols to support diversity initiatives was announced.

  • WKU CCSJ to host campus conversation about climate change: WKU Center for Citizenship and Social Justice (CCSJ), in partnership with WKU Office of Sustainability, is set to host a campus conversation about climate change at 4 p.m. today (Nov. 16) in the Mahurin Honors College & International Center’s multipurpose room.
  • WKU to hold open forum on strategic planning process: WKU will hold a Strategic Planning Open Forum today (Nov. 16) from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Downing Student Union Auditorium.
  • Madeline Marita wins WKU Library Student Assistant Scholarship: WKU senior Madeline Marita has been selected as the recipient of the WKU Library Student Assistant Scholarship for spring 2018.  Marita, originally from Florence, Kentucky, is working on a major in Communication Disorders with a minor in Music and has a grade point average of 4.0. She has been working in the libraries since winter of 2016 and works in stacks management and security.
  • Public Health Graduate Student Awarded for Research Proposal: Divya Gadde, a graduate student in the WKU Department of Public Health, was recently awarded with funding to support her research proposal: “Assessment of Ergonomics in Indian Dental Practice.”
  • Hardin Planetarium to present winter holiday show Nov. 26-Dec. 28: Celebrations for a Long Winter’s Night will be presented Nov. 26-Dec. 28 at WKU’s Hardin Planetarium.
  • WKU Learn and Earn Advisory Board holds inaugural meeting: The inaugural meeting of the WKU Learn and Earn Advisory Board was held Nov. 9 at the offices of Learn and Earn Business Partner SOKY Jobs.
  • Kentucky Museum preparing for Christmas in Kentucky: The Kentucky Museum is preparing for its annual Christmas in Kentucky on Dec. 2. The event is free for the public, and all of our exhibits are open and free as well.
  • Parking/traffic advisory for WKU vs. MTSU: WKU Football will host MTSU at 7 p.m. Friday at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Several parking lots will be reserved for event parking and road closures will occur before game time. Tailgating will begin at 4 p.m. with the Topper Walk at 4:35 p.m. Parking/traffic information from WKU Parking & Transportation Services for WKU faculty/staff; for WKU Commuter students; for WKU Housing students
  • WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU’s Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/
