WKU in the News

  • Here’s How a Grant Will Impact WKU Group Helping First-Generation Students: The Intercultural Student Engagement Center Academy is accepting a $20,000 grant which will help aid the 2018 cohort of students. ISEC Academy is a WKU initiative that supports students who are first generation, underrepresented and Pell grant recipients.
  • Tops have stiff test right out of the gate with MVC favorite Missouri State: WKU won three its exhibition games in a 10-day span by an average margin of 32.7 points. But that means very little starting Friday. Missouri State will try to spoil the Hilltoppers’ home opener at 7 p.m. Friday. And it’s a team more than capable of doing just that.
  • Lady Toppers looking to keep dynasty intact, need role players to play bigger parts: If the dynasty that Michelle Clark-Heard has built is to prolong itself for another season, those who have helped build the foundation must hope others grow into their expanded roles as those who have come before them have done. Ivy Brown and Tashia Brown will be the ones leading WKU in the pursuit of a second straight conference championship in 2017-18. Who steps forward to join those veterans in a star role, whether that’s a singular entity or rotating player on a nightly basis, remains to be seen.
