WKU Sports

  • Volleyball: Hot-Hitting Lady Toppers Sweep Charlotte For 11th-Straight Win: For the second-straight match, WKU Volleyball saw three Lady Toppers hit double-digit kills as the Red and White used its high-powered offense for a Conference USA road win at Charlotte. Led by Rachel Anderson’s 20 kills while Sydney Engle added 13 and Alyssa Cavanaugh posted 12, WKU swept the Charlotte 49ers and now owns the league’s longest winning streak at 11. More: WKU defeats FAU in five sets. Next: WKU will return to Diddle Arena at 6 Friday night to host Louisiana Tech.
  • Women’s golf: Lady Toppers in Action at Pirate Collegiate Classic: As an England native, WKU freshman golfer Megan Clarke had to adjust to the Bermuda grass and the grain of the greens in her college debut last week at the USA Intercollegiate. Clarke responded with a top-20 finish in her first outing. That was one of several results that give the Lady Toppers confidence heading into this week’s Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina.
  • Football: Late TD Run, Pick-Six spark WKU’s 33-21 win: Jakairi Moses ran for a 5-yard touchdown with 1:38 to go and Joe Brown returned an interception for a 34-yard score 25 seconds later to ensure WKU’s 33-21 victory over Ball State on Saturday night.
  • Tennis: Malamou Qualifies for Riviera ITA Women’s All-American Championships: Elpida Malamou will make WKU history becoming the first Lady Topper to compete at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships. The graduate student is set to take on the best in women’s collegiate tennis starting Sept. 30 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

WKU in the News

  • Hilltoppers head into bye week with momentum: The frost is about to be on the pumpkin – and that has proven to be very good news for WKU. The Hilltoppers (2-2) completed the month of September with a less-than-impressive record – but that’s not too different than years past during the program’s recent run of success. Saturday’s 33-21 win over Ball State made WKU 10-9 in September since 2013. After the year’s ninth month is where the Tops have started a new tradition of turning it up a notch. They’re 24-7 the past four years in October, November and December – and now have two full weeks to rest and recharge before the stretch run.
