  • Women’s golf: Three Lady Toppers in Top 20 Through Two Rounds at USA Intercollegiate: Three WKU women’s golfers finished the second round of the USA

    The WKU women’s golf team wraps up play today in the USA Intercollegiate.

    Intercollegiate in the top 20 individually Sunday, led for the second straight day by sophomore Mary Joiner. The Lady Toppers finished the day in sixth in the team standings with a 587 total – just two strokes out of fourth. They turned in a 3-over 291 total on Sunday, five strokes better than Saturday’s opening round at the par-72, 6,002-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course. The tourney concludes today.

  • Men’s golf: Hilltoppers Head to Memphis Intercollegiate After Tough Qualifying: After an intense period of qualifying, the WKU Hilltopper Golf team returns to action today and Tuesday at the Memphis Intercollegiate. It took a three-hole playoff for the Hilltoppers to determine their lineup for the Memphis tournament, which will take place at the par-72, 7,235-yard Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tenn. WKU will be one of 13 programs competing in the 54-hole event. Play will begin at 8 a.m. CT today in the first of two rounds for the day, with the final round slated for Tuesday.
  • Volleyball: WKU Claims Buckeye Invitational Crown; Anderson (MVP), Cavanaugh, Lucas Named All-Tournament: Taking care of business for the ninth-straight match,

    WKU Volleyball won the Buckeye Invitational.

    WKU Volleyball also claimed its third weekend tournament title across the first four weeks of 2017 action by sweeping Northern Illinois on Saturday at the Buckeye Invitational. The Lady Toppers climbed to 13-2 on the season by topping their sixth opponent on the year that appeared in last year’s NCAA Tournament. More: Tops Storm Columbus, Take Down No. 25 Ohio State & Dayton  Next: Next up for WKU is Conference USA action as the Lady Toppers will hit the road for Boca Raton, Fla., and Charlotte, N.C., to take on Florida Atlantic on Friday and Charlotte on Sunday during the opening weekend of league play.

  • Football: Late Field Goal Pushes LA Tech Past WKU, 23-22: Jonathan Barnes kicked a 21-yard field goal with two seconds left to give Louisiana Tech a 23-22 victory over WKU on Saturday night in a Conference USA opener. Next: The Toppers host Ball State at 6 p.m. this Saturday.
  • Women’s soccer: WKU Falls 1-0 in Double Overtime at Old Dominion in C-USA Opener: Locked in a scoreless battle heading in the second overtime period, WKU dropped a 1-0 decision on Friday evening against Old Dominion at the ODU Soccer Complex following Kyra Ricks’ match-winner in the 105th minute in the C-USA regular season opener for both sides. Next: The Lady Toppers return to the field at 4 p.m. Thursday at Southern Miss.
  • Tennis: Ito Advances To Flight Championship; Tops Finish 14-7 At Air Force Invite: Freshman Moka Ito advanced to the championship match of Flight 2 Singles at the Air Force Invitational, as the WKU tennis squad posted a collective 14-7 mark. Joined at the Air Force Academy by the host Falcons, Arizona, Arkansas State, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah and No. 37 Denver, the Lady Toppers matched Denver’s weekend combined record. Filling open bracket spots with additional student-athletes, Air Force owned the weekend’s best team showing with a 20-9 record.
  • Cross country: Ames, Takele Lead Red and White At Commodore Classic: In the second competition of the season, WKU Cross Country saw upperclassmen Endalow Takele and Savannah Ames lead their respective races at the Commodore Classic from Nashville, Tenn. WKU placed 14th as a team on the men’s side while the women posted a 17th-place finish. Next: is back in action Sept. 30 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
