  • Volleyball: Tops Sweep Lipscomb In Nashville, Win Sixth Straight: For the ninth time

WKU Volleyball swept Lipscomb on Tuesday night.

in program history, WKU Volleyball swept Lipscomb as the sides met in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night on the Lipscomb campus. The Lady Toppers improved to 10-1 all-time against the Bisons as the Red and White block party carried over from the weekend. WKU outblocked the hosts 14-3 in the match while limiting Lipscomb to a .106 hitting clip to improve to 10-2 on the 2017 campaign. Next: Up next for the rolling Lady Topper squad is the Buckeye Invitational this weekend at Ohio State.

  • Football: Practice Report: WKU Football got back out on the practice field for the first time following a Week 2 loss to Illinois, the Hilltoppers showed they had a short memory and were determined to make every minute count. “It actually reminded me of the first day of camp as far as tempo and transitioning from period to period,” offensive coordinator Junior Adams said. “Guys came into meetings upbeat, they came out to practice upbeat, they made plays. We’re just moving on to this week.” Next: WKU hosts Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. Saturday. More: Game notes; gameday guide/tailgating information.

  • Big Mac was larger than life and then some: Enjoying his stardom at Bristow High School, Darel Carrier was in the gym one day working on his storied jump shot. He looked over in the stands and noticed an older gentlemen and a young boy watching his every move. The man came onto the court and said, “Darel, I’d like for you to meet this young man. He’d like to be a basketball player one day.” Carrier turned to the boy, about 10 years old, and said, “Everyone wants to be a basketball player. Are you willing to practice and work hard to become one?” That boy was Jim McDaniels. And he took those words to heart. McDaniels died Wednesday at the age of 69 after a life dedicated to faith, family, friendship and basketball. In the days that have followed his death, those closest to him have evoked the legacy McDaniels left – one that will be unmatched.
