  • NOVA Center uses rare instrument to help companies solve problems, answer questions: Inside the concrete building that houses WKU’s NOVA Center is a truly remarkable piece of equipment. It’s a Large Chamber Scanning Electron Microscope — one of the two largest in North America, in fact. The massive machine can accommodate large samples — up to 40 inches in diameter, 40 inches tall and up to 650 pounds — giving the NOVA Center the unique ability to examine pieces and equipment like engines, artillery, even car frames to solve a variety of problems.
  • Dezern will share career highlights in ‘From WKU to Disney’s World’: WKU graduate Craig Dezern returns to his alma mater this evening (Sept. 5) for a lecture sponsored by the Department of Communication. In From WKU to Disney’s World: The Profession of a Communicator, Dezern said he plans “to share highlights of my years in the industry and what I have learned about the commitments demanded by a career in communications.”
  • Simple steps on how to complete a FAFSA: One of the most popular questions that the WKU Department of Financial Assistance fields each year from students and parents is “How do we apply for financial aid and how can we qualify for student loans?” Even though the answer we give is simple—“Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.gov”—the process behind it can be intimidating for a student attempting this for the first time.
  • WKU Admissions hosting events for prospective students & their families: WKU is taking its DiscoverWKU events across the United States this fall. Events are coming up Thursday in northern Kentucky; and Sept. 12 in Lexington. Register online at http://www.wku.edu/discoverwku/

WKU in the News

  • Tops turn attention to Illinois, another shot at a program first: In 2015, WKU went to Indiana. And lost 38-35. In 2014, WKU went to Illinois. And lost 42-34. In 2017, WKU (1-0) has yet another shot at beating a team from the Big Ten Conference when it meets Illinois at 7 p.m. Saturday. And it’s another winnable game. But a hurdle the WKU program has yet to clear.
