The 22nd Annual Regional Bridge Building Championships will be held Saturday (March 4) at the WKU Center for Research & Development’s Commons Area.
The object of this contest is to see who can design, construct and test the most efficient bridge within certain given specifications. Model bridges are built with basswood and are intended to be simplified versions of real-world bridges. Bridges will be loaded until failure with the bridge with the highest structural efficiency declared the winner.
The competition will begin at approximately 9 a.m. for middle school teams and noon for high school teams. The event is free and open to the public. Bridge check-in will begin Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
The WKU Center for Research & Development is located at 2413 Nashville Road.
