WKU Forensics Team wins at Bowling Green State University

The WKU Forensics Team traveled to Bowling Green, Ohio, to compete in two tournaments the weekend of Feb. 11-12.

WKU’s team of 10 was crowned team sweepstakes champion at both tournaments, capturing 15 individual championships, and advancing all members to at least one final round each. Other competing schools included Marshall University and Eastern Michigan University.

Next weekend, the team will compete at the Kentucky state tournament in Owensboro and the AFA national tournament district qualifier in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The team will divide in two to compete at three tournaments in all at both locations.

Results from the Bowling Green State University “Circus Circus” Swing tournaments are as follows:

  • Asha Wasuge, a junior from Irvine, California, tournament champion in prose interpretation, tournament champion in dramatic interpretation and tournament co-champion in persuasive speaking at the Alumni tournament; tournament champion in dramatic interpretation, second in prose interpretation and fifth in persuasive speaking at the BGSU tournament.
  • Camille Acosta, a senior from El Paso, Texas, tournament champion in informative speaking, tournament champion in programmed oral interpretation and fourth in duo interpretation (with Sean Diaz) at the BGSU tournament; tournament champion in programmed oral interpretation, third in informative speaking, fourth in after-dinner speaking and fourth in duo interpretation (with Sean Diaz) at the Alumni tournament.
  • Blake Knapp, a junior from Blue Springs, Missouri, tournament champion in poetry interpretation and tournament champion in prose interpretation at the BGSU tournament; tournament champion in poetry interpretation and third in duo interpretation (with Brent O’Connor) at the Alumni tournament.
  • Brent O’Connor, a senior from Plantation, Florida, tournament champion in after-dinner speaking, tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Lyric Davis) and third in duo interpretation (with Blake Knapp) at the Alumni tournament; third in duo interpretation (with Lyric Davis) at the BGSU tournament.
  • Lily Nellans, a junior from Des Moines, Iowa, tournament champion in informative speaking at the Alumni tournament; second in informative speaking at the BGSU tournament.
  • Casey Child, a sophomore from Taylor Mill, tournament co-champion in persuasive speaking at the Alumni tournament; third in persuasive speaking and fifth in dramatic interpretation at the BGSU tournament.
  • Lyric Davis, a junior from Blue Springs, Missouri, tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Brent O’Connor), fourth in duo interpretation (with Camille Acosta) and fifth in after-dinner speaking at the Alumni tournament; third in after-dinner speaking and third in duo interpretation (with Brent O’Connor) at the BGSU tournament.
  • Mark Allseits, a senior from Englewood, Florida, tournament champion in communication analysis at the Alumni tournament; fourth in communication analysis at the BGSU tournament.
  • Claire Champagne, a freshman from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, third in prose interpretation at the Alumni tournament; fifth in prose interpretation at the BGSU tournament.
  • Sean Diaz, a junior from El Paso, Texas, fourth in poetry interpretation and fourth in duo interpretation (with Camille Acosta) at the BGSU tournament; fourth in poetry interpretation and fifth in prose interpretation at the Alumni tournament.
