More Forensics Team members qualify for national tourneys

The WKU Forensics Team traveled to Whitewater, Wisconsin, to take part in two tournaments known as the Mid-American Forensic League Numbers 3 and 4, the weekend of Oct. 22-23. WKUโ€™s team of eight qualified several students for the April national tournaments.

Next weekend the team will attend a tournament in Huntington, West Virginia, on the campus of Marshall University.

Results from the Mid-American Forensic League #3 and #4 are as follows:

  • Blake Knapp, a junior from Blue Springs, Missouri, tournament champion in informative speaking and fourth in after-dinner speaking at the MAFL Four tournament; tournament champion in after-dinner speaking at the MAFL Three tournament.
  • Casey Child, a sophomore from Taylor Mill, tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Mackenzie Birkey) at both the MAFL Three and MAFL Four tournaments.
  • Mackenzie Birkey, a junior from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Casey Child) at both the MAFL Three and MAFL Four tournaments.
  • Eli Lamb, a freshman from Leesburg, Georgia, tournament champion in informative speaking at the MAFL Three tournament.
  • Asha Wasuge, a junior from Irvine, California, second in after-dinner speaking and fifth in persuasive speaking at the MAFL Four tournament; third in after-dinner speaking and fifth in persuasive speaking at the MAFL Three tournament.
  • Claire Champagne, a freshman from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, third in persuasive speaking at the MAFL Three tournament; fourth in persuasive speaking at the MAFL Four tournament.
  • Natalie Hedberg, a sophomore from Chaska, Minnesota, fourth in informative speaking and seventh in persuasive speaking at the MAFL Three tournament; sixth in persuasive speaking at the MAFL Four tournament.
