WKU honors 116 students from northern Kentucky, Elizabethtown areas

WKU began its 2016 series of scholars luncheons this week by honoring 116 outstanding students from high schools in the northern Kentucky and Elizabethtown areas.

27 students recognized at northern Kentucky luncheon

During the Northern Kentucky Area Honors Luncheon on Oct. 11, WKU recognized 27 students from 11 high schools for their academic achievements. The group of students invited to the luncheon had an average ACT composite score of 30.16 and grade-point average of 3.90 and included 50 Kentucky Governor’s Scholars/Governor’s School for the Arts/Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs and 14 National Merit Semifinalists.

The following students were recognized at Receptions in Erlanger:

  • Boone County High School: Rebecca Duncan, Amelia Hicks, Kamryn Huff, Seth Lillard, Jenson Millson, Elizabeth Takaota, Adrianna Waters.
  • Conner High School: Valerie Handorf, Madisyn Hayes, Hannah Leas.
  • Cooper High School: Timothy Stidham.
  • Covington Catholic High School: Aidan Donaghy.
  • Covington Latin High School: John Tarvin.
  • Dayton High School: Noelle Brooks.

89 students recognized at Elizabethtown luncheon

During the Elizabethtown Area Honors Luncheon on Oct. 13, WKU recognized 89 students from five high schools for their academic achievements. The group of students invited to the luncheon had an average ACT composite score of 29.5 and grade-point average of 3.96 and included 20 Kentucky Governor’s Scholars and one National Merit Semifinalist.

The following students were recognized at the luncheon, sponsored by Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, at the Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center:
