Bruce Richardson, co-owner of Elmwood Inn Fine Teas and one of the world’s leading tea experts, will be the opening speaker for this fall’s Kentucky Live! series at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 1680 Campbell Lane. His topic will be The Tea Things of Jane Austen.
A native of Kentucky, Richardson is a writer, photographer, tea blender and frequent speaker at tea events around the country. As co-owner of Elmwood Inn Fine Teas in Danville, his teas are sold online throughout the country.
According to Dr. Brian Coutts, department head of WKU Library Public Services and organizer of Kentucky Live!, Richardson has been a contributing source for articles in Slate magazine, MTV, CNN, The Smithsonian, National Geographic, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and the BBC. In 2011, he was named Tea Master for the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum whose mission is to help define tea’s role in that famous 1773 historical event.
“We are so pleased to have Mr. Richardson speak in Bowling Green,” Coutts said. “His latest reference book, The New Tea Companion: A Guide to Teas Throughout the World (Third Edition), is used by tea professionals globally. We look forward to hearing his talk.”
After his presentation, Richardson will be available for book signings. Sponsored by WKU Libraries, this event is free and open to the public.
