WKU Learn and Earn announces new business partnerships

WKU Learn and Earn announces the addition of four new Business Partners in Warren County. These businesses will be partnering with WKU Learn and Earn program to employ both traditional and non-traditional college students, thus helping meet their company production goals. In return, those students work part-time for wages and receive college scholarships from their employers as well.

New Bowling Green Business Partners for WKU Learn and Earn include the following:

  • Consolidated Electrical Distributors is part of a coast-to-coast network of electrical sales and distribution warehouses with more than 600 locations nationwide.
  • Kenmold, North America is a Premier ISO9001:2008 and ISO13485 Certified manufacturer of high performance yet cost effective custom molds, including plastics injection, die cast, and rubber molds for a variety of industries and products.
  • The Kentucky Grand Hotel and Spa is a luxury boutique-style hotel overlooking Circus Square Park. All of the hotel’s amenities will be open to the public, including the spa, coffee shop and piano and dessert bar.
  • McDonald’s of Bowling Green provides its customers with great tasting, affordable food; crew and franchisees with opportunities for growth; and suppliers with a shared commitment to provide the highest quality ingredients and products.

These businesses join existing partners: Akebono, Sitel, SpanTech, The Kentucky National Guard and SOKY Jobs.  As part of the Learn and Earn program, WKU students must first apply, be approved, complete an interview assessment and then an orientation with program staff. Next, they undergo job training before being placed in a pool of potential employees. Once a position opens, students who match skill requirements interview with employers, and, if hired, the students get an hourly wage and a tuition scholarship for staying employed through the semester and keeping at least a 2.0 grade-point average. The innovative program is designed to help students, businesses and communities alike.
