The state finals for the 2016 Kentucky Science Olympiad were held April 23 on the WKU campus with both overall winners from Russell Independent Schools — Russell Independent High School – Maroon Team in the high school (C) division and Russell Independent Middle School – Maroon Team in the middle school (B) division.
The first-place winners were decided by individual or small team competition in a number of scientific fields represented by Ogden College of Science and Engineering in the fields of Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geography, Geology and Physics. The winning schools will represent Kentucky at the Science Olympiad National Tournament, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout on May 20-21.
Final results from the 2016 competition are available on the Kentucky Science Olympiad website at http://www.wku.edu/scienceolympiad/scoring_results.php.
The success of this event is due to the dedication of middle and high school students and teachers. The event would not be possible without the outstanding volunteer work of the faculty, staff and students at WKU.
