Dr. Casey Bennett to present TEDx Talk in Nashville on April 15
Dr. Casey Bennett, a 2003 WKU graduate, will be a featured presenter at a TEDx Talk on Friday (April 15) in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bennett, a native of Henderson, is co-founder and the Chief Scientific Officer of Faros Healthcare. Bennett’s TEDx Nashville talk will glimpse into the future of artificial intelligence and detail his work on this ground breaking and often misunderstood new horizon.
Bennett graduated from Henderson County High School as valedictorian in 1999 and received his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from WKU in 2003 and his PhD from the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University in 2015.
“It’s nice to come back close to home, where I grew up and went to college, and be able to share insight into some of the exciting things I’ve done since I left,” he said.
Bennett’s work has been pioneering in the realm of artificial intelligence in healthcare, including the areas of robotics, machine learning, clinical decision support and personalized medicine. He was the lead designer for Centerstone Research Institute’s award-winning, organization-wide analytics platform (2010 TDWI Best Practices Award) and the national Knowledge Network Data Warehouse, the largest ongoing clinical mental health data repository in the country. He has published dozens of scientific articles, and has been a guest on nationally syndicated radio talk shows in reference to his work with artificial intelligence. Bennett’s work has also been featured as part of IBM’s “Smarter Planet” campaign.
Bennett is working on projects using artificial intelligence to augment clinical decision-making in chronic illness, as well as utilizing in-home robots for therapeutic purposes with elderly patients. He is currently based in Chicago, Illinois.
