Taylor Bowling crowned WKU’s 2016 Coming Home King

Taylor Bowling of London was crowned WKU’s 2016 Coming Home King on Thursday (March 3).

Bowling, the son of Lonnie and Melinda Bowling, is a Civil Engineering major and was sponsored by WKU Spirit Masters.

He was crowned at halftime of WKU’s men’s basketball game against Southern Miss.

First runner-up was Tyler Megargel of Somerset, the son of Harold and Laura Megargel. He is an Economics and Political Science double major and was sponsored by Delta Zeta and Sigma Nu.

Second runner-up was Dylan Wright of Frankfort, the son of Mark and Patty Wright. He is a Music Education major and was sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Twenty-one Coming Home King candidates were nominated by various campus organizations and departments. Other finalists were:

  • Jay Brough of Frankfort, the son of Sam and Judy Brough. Brough is a Business Administration major and is sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha.
  • Chase Brown of Bowling Green, the son of Travis and Sherry Brown. Brown is a Recreation Administration major and is sponsored by Alpha Tau Omega.
  • Nathan Cherry of Bowling Green, the son of Steve and Gretchen Cherry. Cherry is an Entrepreneurship major and is sponsored by the WKU Student Government Association.
  • Andre Dowell of Brandenburg, the son of Linda Dowell. Dowell is an Elementary Education major and is sponsored by Kappa Delta.
  • Brandon Goodwin of Hopkinsville, the son of Tim and Pearl Goodwin. Goodwin is a Music and Psychological Sciences double major and is sponsored by Omega Phi Alpha.
  • Daniel Hammer of Tompkinsville, the son of Duane and Dana Hammer. Hammer is a Civil Engineering major and is sponsored by the Baptist Campus Ministry.
  • Jamie Harvener of Lexington, the son of Ken and Hope Harvener. Harvener is a Dance major and is sponsored by Alpha Omicron Pi.
  • Will Houchin of Bowling Green, the son of Slim and Staci Nash. Houchin is a Turf Management major and is sponsored by Kappa Alpha Order.
  • Colton Hounshell of LaGrange, the son of Travis and Chelse Hounshell. Hounshell is a Political Science and Asian Religions & Cultures double major and is sponsored by Alpha Gamma Delta.
  • Sean Jacobson of Louisville, the son of Bruce and Peri Jacobson. Jacobson is a History and Broadcasting double major and is sponsored by HonorsToppers.
  • Samuel Kirby of Union, the son of Don and Martha Kirby. Kirby is a Broadcasting major and is sponsored by Phi Sigma Pi.
  • Gavin Knies of Lexington, the son of Susan Knies and Ed Ancelet. Knies is a Music and Animal Science double major and is sponsored by Phi Delta Theta and the WKU Redshirts.
  • David Miller of Louisville, the son of Roger and Paula Miller. Miller is a Civil Engineering major and is sponsored by Phi Mu and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
  • Juan Pinilla of Bowling Green, the son of Juan Carlos Pinilla and Claudia Manriquez. Pinilla is an International Business and Spanish double major and is sponsored by the Hilltopper Organization of Latin American Students (H.O.L.A.S.).
  • Xzaveion Price of Bowling Green, the son of Kathy Bailey and Billy Price. Price is an Exercise Science major and is sponsored by Black Men at Western.
  • Marcus Stubbs of Louisville, the son of Angela Stubbs. Stubbs is a Family Studies major and is sponsored by Alpha Kappa Psi and the African American Studies Department.
  • Drew Tingle of Franklin, the son of Rick and Laurie Tingle. Tingle is a Business Administration major and is sponsored by Chi Omega.
  • John Wozniak of Victoria, Texas, the son of Russell and Marcia Wozniak. Wozniak is an Exercise Science major and is sponsored by the WKU Campus Activities Board.
