Two WKU faculty members will be honored Sunday (Feb. 7) at an African American History Month event at Taylor Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Dr. Saundra Starks, professor of Social Work, and Dr. John Hardin, professor of History, are among five being honored at 10 a.m. during the African American History Celebratory Event.
Dr. Starks, who will receive the award from her graduate student, Jamye Alexandria Hardy, is being honored as an outstanding professor and community activist, including 15 years as a leader for celebrating the Movement of Kwanzaa.
Dr. Hardin, who will receive the award from his wife, Maxine Randal Hardin, is being recognized for completing more than 12 years of research as coeditor of the Kentucky African American Encyclopedia, recently published by the University Press of Kentucky.
Both are members of Taylor Chapel AME Church, 503 Clay St., in Bowling Green. Other honorees are Dan Taylor, Ethel Leatherman and current Taylor Chapel pastor Joshua Hale.
