Series begins Oct. 24 with ‘Emerging Physician Leadership’
WKU’s Center for Leadership Excellence, in collaboration with the Kentucky Medical Association, will sponsor a series of workshops for physicians during the period October 2015-2016.
The “Workshops for Physician Excellence” series will focus on strategies for developing leadership skills appropriate for and useful to physicians who desire to assume additional leadership roles in healthcare.
The first workshop, “Emerging Physician Leadership,” will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at WKU’s Augenstein Alumni Center. Registration is $75; Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit available. Registration deadline is Oct. 16.
The tentative program for the first session features a luncheon presentation on Technology and the Physician by Dr. Paul Grundy from IBM; this session will be preceded by an initial address on The Political Roles of the Physician by Dr. Ralph Alvarado and followed by breakout sessions including The Physician in Diverse Leadership Roles by Dr. Shawn C. Jones and Physicians and Changing Financial Roles by Robert Gebbie.
Participants also will be asked to respond to a survey that indicates their interest in other possible topics to serve as the focus of upcoming workshops in the series.
