With the help of WKU mascot Big Red, representatives of WKU PBS delivered a second round of books to area children as part of its Reading Readiness campaign.
Students with Community Education of Bowling Green and Warren County’s after school program at T. C. Cherry Elementary School in Bowling Green, welcomed the furry mascot and the delivery of three brand new books each. More than 300 books will be distributed to age-appropriate students in the Community Education after school programs thanks to a gift from WKU PBS, PBS Kids and Overstock.com. Those schools include Bristow, Dishman-McGinnis, Lost River and Warren elementary schools in Warren County.
Upon receiving the books, Community Education Executive Director Debi Jordan said: “It is through generous donations such as these that we are able to provide working parents with safe, engaging environments for their children at the lowest possible cost. Literacy is the cornerstone to every other educational building block.”
