The WKU forensics team will open its 2015-16 season by hosting the WKU/Alumni Fall Forensic Tournament Sept. 18-20.
About 20 schools are expected to compete. The event includes debate tournaments on Sept. 18-19 and individual events tournament on Sept. 19-20. Tournament headquarters will be the Garrett Conference Center lobby.
Director of Forensics Ganer Newman expressed his eagerness to start the new competitive season. “The team has been working hard all summer to prepare for this year,” Newman said. “We are excited to start off our season on our home turf.”
The 2015-16 WKU forensics team includes 42 students from Kentucky and 11 other states (from New York to California and from Minnesota to Florida) representing 19 majors.
During the 2014-15 season, WKU won the National Forensic Association National Tournament championship, the National Forensic Association Lincoln-Douglas Debate National championship, the American Forensic Association national championship and the Kentucky Forensic Association championship. It was the ninth time that WKU has won NFA and AFA titles in the same year.
