The WKU Board of Regents today (July 24) approved the sale of 0.64 acres to Five Star Properties LLC for $600,000.
The property is located between Kentucky and Adams streets adjoining vacant property that once housed Vinos and Hilltop Shops, which Five Star has under contract. The company plans to develop a pharmacy.
The proceeds from the sale will be reserved for the design and development of a parking garage in the same block.
In other business, the Board:
- Approved the appointment of the following as faculty emeriti: Susan Jones (Nursing), William W. Davis (Economics), Roger L. Scott and Phillip C. Womble (Physics & Astronomy) and Larry Caillouet and Carl Kell (Communication).
- Swore in new Staff Regent Tamela W. Smith.
- Installed new officers Frederick A. Higdon of Lebanon as Chair; Melissa B. Dennison of Glasgow as Vice Chair; and Cynthia Harris of Louisville as Secretary.
- Approved a contract with new Baseball Coach John Pawlowski and an amended contract with Cross Country, Track and Field Coach Erik Jenkins.
