The WKU Student United Way recently presented The Salvation Army with a $1,000 grant on May 5 in the Student Activities Office.
At the beginning of the school year, the 2014-2015 WKU Student United Way set a goal for the school year to provide a community grant to a United Way of Southern Kentucky affiliated program. Through a variety of fundraising efforts, the Student United Way raised money for a $1,000 grant.
On April 13, seven students came together to review and discuss program applications within the critical issue area of poverty.
After a thorough review and discussion, the students voted to determine which program to recommend for funding. By majority vote, the group elected to provide funding to The Salvation Army’s Homeless Program.
The Student United Way is a student led organization with the purpose of raising money, performance service, and spreading awareness about the United Way and its impact on critical issues in our community.
