The Center for Robert Penn Warren Studies at WKU has announced the winners of the 2015 Robert Penn Warren High School Essay Contest.

Sarah Cohron, of Bowling Green High School, won first place and a $200 prize. Benjamin Locke, from LaRue County High School, received second place and a $100 prize, while Brian Anderson, also from LaRue County High School, received third place and a $50 prize.

The contest, open to high school students in Kentucky and Tennessee, required participants to critically analyze “Why You Climbed Up,” a short poem that first appeared in Warren’s book Altitudes and Extensions in 1984.
