Baylor professor Russell to present Warren-Brooks lecture

Richard Rankin Russell, professor of English at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, will deliver the annual Warren-Brooks lecture on literary criticism on Thursday (April 23). The lecture is sponsored by the Center for Robert Penn Warren Studies at WKU.

Dr. Russell’s recent book, Seamus Heaney’s Regions, was selected as the 2014 winner of the Robert Penn Warren – Cleanth Brooks Award for outstanding literary scholarship and criticism.

The lecture, titled Recovering the Regional in the Work of Seamus Heaney, will begin at 4 p.m. in the Robert Penn Warren Room, Cherry Hall 101. The Center will host a short reception immediately following the lecture. All members of the WKU community are welcome to attend.
