WKU is extending its international reach to the Arctic and will announce its latest partnership with a live news conference from Iceland on Monday (March 23).
WKU President Gary Ransdell and other WKU faculty will sign an agreement with the University of Akureyri (UNAK) and the Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network (IACN) during a live teleconference at 9 a.m. CT. The teleconference will be available in the board room of the Augenstein Alumni Center.
Dr. Ransdell will be joined in Iceland by UNAK Rector Eyjolfur Guomundsson and Embla Eir Oddsdottir, Director of the Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network. In Bowling Green, WKU officials will be joined by Orn Gudmundsson Sr., Honorary Consul from Iceland to the Central United States, and his son Orn Gudmundsson Jr., both from Louisville.
The agreement creates the North Atlantic Climate Change Collaboration (NAC3). Officials will take questions from both locations following the signing.
