WKU graduate student recognized as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

WKU graduate student Nikki Stock of Bear Lake, Minnesota, has been recognized as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Stock is a graduate assistant for fitness and exercise within the Department of Intramural Recreational Sports and is an exercise science major in the School of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport.

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCSs) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention.

The CSCS program was created in 1985 to recognize individuals who possess the knowledge and skills to design and implement safe and effective strength and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting.
