WKU weather update for March 5-7, 2015

Winter-Weather-Advisory-612x612Here’s a WKU winter weather alert for Thursday-Saturday (March 5-7):

  • Thursday and Friday classes (March 5-6) at all WKU campuses are canceled. Online classes will proceed as scheduled. WKU offices are closed Thursday (March 5), with essential personnel reporting.
  • WKU offices in Bowling Green will open at 10 a.m. Friday (March 6). Classes Friday (March 6) remain canceled and campuses in Glasgow, Owensboro and Elizabethtown/Ft. Knox remain closed Friday (March 6). Use caution and watch for slick spots on roads and walks. More: WKU Policy on Work Attendance During Adverse Weather Conditions
  • Saturday classes (March 7) in Bowling Green will proceed as scheduled. 
  • WKU Housing update: WKU residence halls will remain open until noon Saturday (March 7). Students who cannot safely leave campus for spring break on Saturday can make overnight arrangements to stay at Barnes-Campbell Hall (270-936-4850) or Bemis Lawrence Hall (270-936-4750) for Saturday night. For students waiting for a ride after noon Saturday, the Barnes and Bemis lobbies will be open.
  • WKU Elizabethtown-Fort Knox will be closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 5-7). WKU Elizabethtown-Fort Knox will reopen Monday (March 9).
  • WKU Owensboro will be closed Friday and Saturday (March 6-7).
  • WKU Glasgow will be closed Friday (March 6).
  • WKU Dining schedule: Fresh Food open Friday (March 6) 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. All other locations closed. (More on WKU Dining hours.)
  • Fourth Region High School Basketball Tournament at Diddle Arena: Boys’ first-round games will be played Friday (March 6) at 5:30, 7:15 and 9 p.m.; girls’ semifinal games Saturday (March 7) at 5:30 and 7:15 p.m.; boys’ first-round game at 9 p.m. Saturday (March 7); girls’ championship at 3 p.m. Sunday (March 8).
  • US Bank Celebration of the Arts: The Kentucky Museum has canceled the opening events for the US Bank Celebration of the Arts show Friday (March 6). Both the Vernissage Preview Party and Public Opening are canceled. The exhibit will open to the public as scheduled during regular museum hours beginning Saturday (March 7).  Museum hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
  • WKU Baseball: WKU’s home series versus Ohio State at Nick Denes Field has been pushed back to Sunday and Monday. The Hilltoppers (6-5) and Buckeyes (5-4) will play in a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. (CT) and wrap up their series Monday morning at a time to be determined.
  • Other event cancellations: Middle School Honors Band Clinic on March 6; 15th annual Kentucky Bluegrass LEGO Robotics Competition on March 7.
