Sanders is the author of Rock the Audition: How to Prepare For and Get Cast in Rock Musicals. Her workshops are changing the face of auditioning for musical theatre on the stage and screen.

Rock musicals are dominating Broadway. Where rock musicals were once written by musical theatre composers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown and Jonathan Larsen, they are being written by pop recording artists. Cyndi Lauper wrote Kinky Boots. Sheryl Crow is writing Diner. Regina Spektor wrote Beauty, Tori Amos’ The Light Princess is up and running in London, and Sting’s The Last Ship was just seen on Broadway. The musicals Motown and Beautiful are following in the footsteps of jukebox musicals such as Priscilla, Rock of Ages, and Jersey Boys, using authentic Motown and 70s folk/rock music.

As the only coach to bridge the gap between popular music and theatre, Sanders tours worldwide to teach teachers, students, and aspiring actors how to choose, cut, arrange, research and vocally style popular music to successfully audition for rock musicals. Sanders’ performance techniques have brought her students not only to the Broadway stage, touring companies and regional productions of Kinky Boots, The Last Ship, Here Lies Love, Bring It On, Jersey Boys, Spiderman, Memphis, Rock of Ages, Sister Act, Mamma Mia, American Idiot, Wicked, Rent, Hairspray, Legally Blonde and the workshop of Regina Spektor’s Beauty, but to television shows like The Voice, X Factor, American Idol and The Glee Project.
