The WKU Division of Extended Learning & Outreach (DELO) has named Leslie Ellzey Witty as program manager of Career & Workforce Development (CWD). As program manager, Witty will develop and manage career training and workforce development opportunities for both individuals and business/industry partners in the region and online.
Through CWD, Witty will also evaluate training needs for local business/industry partners and internal clients, as well as collaborate with content experts or develop continuing and professional development content herself to meet both the classroom and online needs of business/industry and the community.
Witty received her B.A. in English and allied language arts in 1992 and her M.A. in communication in 2002 from WKU. Her career in education spans nearly 25 years. Witty has been a trainer for CWD since 2002 and was a high school teacher, coach and administrator in Warren County.
“Leslie’s experience as both an administrator and a trainer makes her a valuable addition to our program. She will be responsible for expanding our current offerings to address the vast training needs of our region’s businesses and industries,” she said, “and I’m excited to watch our programs grow even more under her direction.”
Witty said her experience has provided a unique perspective that will help her in this new role.
“As a trainer at WKU for the past 12 years, I have seen firsthand the impact our programs have on our region,” Witty said. “Whether in individual classes or extended certificate programs, training is a vital tool which not only improves employee performance, but also enhances employers’ competitive edge. I am excited to expand our department’s reach.”
