WKU Owensboro receives Volunteer Service Award

WKU Owensboro has received the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award for its work with Junior Achievement of West Kentucky.

The award, issued by the White House and the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, recognizes volunteer service for groups that meet or exceed 200 hours to a single organization in a one-year period.

During the 2013-14 school year, WKU Owensboro employees provided 206 volunteer hours to JA of West Kentucky to help teach area students about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness.

The award was presented July 31 at the Daviess County school board meeting.
