WKU and Aramark Higher Education are pleased to announce the addition of Steak ’n Shake to the WKU Restaurant Group’s extensive dining portfolio. Opening in August 2014, Steak ’n Shake will be located in the newly renovated Downing Student Union (DSU) Food Court.
Steak ’n Shake, founded in 1934, is the pioneer of the “better burger” segment of the restaurant industry. With a highly anticipated debut for the fall semester, students returning back to the University will be able to enjoy Steak ’n Shake’s famous Original Steakburger™ and award-winning Milk Shakes, among other delicious menu items.
“As the first ever Steak ’n Shake university location, Western Kentucky University is excited to welcome the brand to our campus and we believe that the new menu options provide even more variety for our students and staff,” said Gary Meszaros, Assistant VP of Auxiliary Services.
The new, contemporary Steak ’n Shake restaurant displays a counter-service-only model with a simple menu consisting of only the freshest ingredients, and serving its famous hand-crafted real-steak Steakburgers, thin ‘n crispy shoestring french fries and hand-dipped real-milk milk shakes.
Students will have the option to use a meal plan to purchase a Value Meal at Steak ’n Shake. Customers will also be allowed to use any declining balance account they may have; Meal Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars or Big Red Dollars as well as cash, debit or credit card.
About Steak ’n Shake: Steak ’n Shake is a classic American brand featuring premium burgers and shakes. In 1934, Steak ’n Shake’s founder, Gus Belt, pioneered the concept of a “better burger” by hand-crafting and presenting premium Steakburgers. He also made sure the new dish was complemented by refreshing, hand-dipped milk shakes. Belt made it his mission to deliver only the freshest ingredients and serve only the highest quality food to his customers. His commitment to quality, delivered right in front of his customers, helped create and impart the credo to Steak ’n Shake’s famous slogan — “In Sight It Must Be Right.” Steak ’n Shake is a Biglari Holdings Company.
