Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities scheduled in March

WKU’s Counseling & Testing Center and Hope Harbor are planning activities to recognize March as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Events include presentations of The Clothesline Project, the “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” event and the “Take Back the Night” march and rally in downtown Bowling Green.

Here is a list of 2014 Sexual Assault Awareness Month events/projects:

  • March 3: Self Defense class. 7 p.m. at Pearce-Ford Tower 27th floor.
  • March 4: The Clothesline Project, a healing process for those who have experienced violence or know someone who has. 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at Preston Health and Activities Center.
  • March 5: The Clothesline Project. 10 a.m.-noon at WKU-Glasgow Campus.
  • March 18: The Clothesline Project. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Centennial Mall.
  • March 18: “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes,” a way for men to increase awareness against sexual violence and puts a different spin on speaking out against rape, sexual violence and gender violence by “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes.” 10:45 a.m. at Centennial Mall.
  • March 20: Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues. 7:30 p.m. at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center’s Russell Miller Theatre.
  • March 25: Love the Way You Lie, a talent showcase that shows support of awareness of sexual violence. 7 p.m. at Downing Student Union Auditorium.
  • March 28: “Take Back the Night,” annual event to march, rally and take action to prevent sexual violence. 6 p.m. at the Warren County Justice Center; followed by a march around downtown and a candlelight vigil.
