While the weather may have made a turn for the colder, high-ability and high-interest students from across the region were warming up with fun in the classroom at WKU.
More than 500 students participated in 2013 Fall Super Saturdays classes.
The Center for Gifted Studies’ Fall Super Saturdays program hosted more than 500 first through eighth graders from two states and more than 40 school districts each Saturday from Nov. 2 to Nov. 23.
During the program, which took place on WKU’s Main and South campuses in Bowling Green and at the Kentucky Science Center in Louisville, students participated in one of nearly 40 classes. The creative sides of many students were opened in classes like Make Your Own Fairy Tale Creature and Painting with Watercolor. International culture took hold of students in Let’s Learn German! Lernen wir Deutsch! and Russian Adventures. Scientists of all ages could be found in classes like Science R’ Us and Exploring the Fascinating World of Chemistry, while other students explored their investigative sides with Whodunnit?
Though these enrichment courses varied greatly in topic, all encouraged children to explore their interests in a challenging, yet nurturing environment.
