William C. “Jack” Davis, former executive director of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia Tech, will be the featured speaker for the WKU History Department’s Second Annual Civil War lecture on Oct. 24.
Davis, author and editor of more than 50 books on the Civil War and Southern history, will present “John C. Breckinridge, Kentuckian and American” at 7 p.m. in Snell Hall, room 2113.
Davis was the on-camera senior consultant for 52 episodes of the A&E/History Channel series “Civil War Journal,” as well as a number of other productions on commercial and public television, including the BBC. He has acted as historical consultant for several television and film productions, including “The Blue and the Gray,” “George Washington” and “The Perfect Tribute.”
Davis, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sonoma State University, is the only three-time winner of the Jefferson Davis Award given for book-length works on Confederate history.
