WKU will again host a noncredit online Faith Community Nursing course designed to prepare registered nurses for the specialty practice of faith community nursing. Offered through a collaboration of WKU Department of Nursing, WKU Continuing Education and the Parish Nurse Ministries of Paducah Hospitals Lourdes and Western Baptist, the curriculum for the course is interfaith and based on the IPNRC Foundations of Faith Community Nursing.

IPNRC (International Parish Nurse Resource Center) faculty educator Carol Bradford, MSN, RN, FCN leads the course which is divided into spirituality, professionalism, holistic health and community units. According to Bradford, spirituality is the common thread woven throughout every lesson.

Participating nurses will receive 3.2 CEUs, which include topics like prayer, self-care, ethical issues, documentation, health promotion, life issues of violence, suffering and grief, assessment and care coordination.

The online course is scheduled for Feb. 11 to April 8. Registration deadline is Feb. 1, and the course fee is $300. For information or to register online, visit www.wku.edu/ce/fcn.
