The 2012 WKU home football season continues Thursday night (Nov. 1) when the Hilltoppers host Middle Tennessee at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. with tailgating festivities beginning at 4:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU. (Check out a detailed tailgating map.)
PREGAME ACTIVITIES: All gates to the stadium will open at 6 p.m. Fans can attend the Topper Walk and cheer on the entire WKU football team as it enters the stadium at 5:45 p.m. Topper Walk starts on Avenue of Champions across from PS1, where the team buses will drop off the players and coaches so they can walk by fans and along with WKU cheerleaders, Topperettes, the marching band and Big Red and into the stadium. “Topper Town,” a kids play area featuring inflatables and activities for children of all ages, will open at 5 p.m. and is free for the entire family. It is located in the heart of campus on the lawn of Bates-Runner Hall off Avenue of Champions.
RED OUT: Fans are encouraged to “Red Out” Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium, and the first 5,000 fans will receive a free “Who Has It Better Than Us?” red towel courtesy of Greenview Hospital and WKU Athletics.
PARKING/TAILGATING INFORMATION: The best options for pregame tailgating and picnicking for those without season tailgate passes will be the lawns in front of Rodes-Harlin Hall, McCormack Hall and Gilbert Hall, commonly referred to as “The Valley,” off of Avenue of Champions, as well as across the street in front of McLean Hall, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The use of gameday, non-reserved tailgating and picnicking areas cost $20 upon entry and are available as space remains. Fans arriving on campus as gametime approaches will be best served to park free of charge in the Adams Street lot across from the Kentucky Building or the Creason Street lot near the WKU Softball and Soccer Complexes after 4:30 p.m. Avenue of Champions from College Heights Boulevard at Colonnade Drive down the Hill to University Boulevard will close to traffic except for parking permit holders and gameday sales beginning at 4:30 p.m. In addition, WKU Athletics is offering free parking at the downtown garage near Bowling Green Ballpark and the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKyPAC) and free shuttle transportation to and from the game. The free shuttle service begins at 4:30 p.m. and will run until everyone is returned to the garage after the game. (Check out a map and directions to the downtown parking garage.)
TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets for Thursday’s game are still available and can be purchased by calling the WKU Ticket Office at 1-800-5-BIG RED or 745-5222 locally or online at WKUSports.com. Also, a ticket mini plan for the final three home games of the season is available for $35. Both reserved and general admission seats are available for the mini plan, which can be purchased online, in person or over the phone. All ticket booths and will call areas will open at 5 p.m. Thursday at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium after being open for the entire day at E.A. Diddle Arena.

GAME DAY PARKING/TRAFFIC REMINDER: WKU Parking & Transportation provides this reminder about the following parking and traffic changes:
Game-day parking changes
Several parking lots will be reserved for event parking. The following lots will close and must be cleared by 4:30 p.m. Thursday:
- All parking lots surrounding Diddle Arena
- Parking spaces along Avenue of Champions down to University Boulevard
- South Lawn
- Parking Structure 2 (PS2)
- Schneider Hall
- McCormack Lot
- Jones-Jaggers Lot
- Back portion of Creason Lot
- Gated Regents Lot
Note: For those with university business or classes on Thursday evening, parking will be available in Parking Structure 1.
Game-day traffic changes
In addition, roads will close prior to the game and post-game event traffic will be controlled by police officers at key intersections. Road closings will begin at 4:30 p.m. and last throughout the event.
- College Heights Boulevard will be closed between Colonnade Drive and University Boulevard. Access will be restricted to HAF permit holders, tailgating season pass holders, and tailgating day parking customers.
- Avenue of Champions will be closed at College Heights Boulevard. Access will be restricted to HAF permit holders.
