The Homecoming parade began on campus then made its way over the Hill to downtown Bowling Green where a concert and Big Red’s Roar were held at Fountain Square Park.

Members of the 21st class of the Hall of Distinguished Alumni were inducted on Oct. 19. From left are: WKU President Gary Ransdell; Gilbert Calhoun, who represented the late Victor Strahm, Kentucky’s first World War I flying ace; Margaret Munday, the first African-American student to attend classes on the Hill; and Russ Faxon, one of the nation’s top sculptors.

Amy Winkler of Murray, the daughter of Scott and Angela Winkler, was crowned Homecoming Queen. She is an accounting major and was sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi, Omega Psi Phi and Alpha Tau Omega.

The Homecoming crowd of 22,323 was the second largest ever at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. The Toppers fell to Louisiana-Monroe 43-42 in overtime.
