WKU offering 100% online graduate certificate in Nonprofit Administration

WKU’s Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport (KRS) now offers a 100 percent online graduate certificate in Nonprofit Administration.

This 12-credit-hour graduate certificate is designed to increase student knowledge and preparedness for careers in, and service to, the nonprofit sector. Guided by national curricular guidelines, the focused program addresses current issues and skills relevant to the nonprofit sector.

“With nearly 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the USA and thousands of non-governmental organizations throughout the world, there is a tremendous need to provide educational opportunities for those already working in the nonprofit sector, as well as, those wishing to start a nonprofit career,” said Dr. Raymond Poff, KRS associate professor and Nonprofit Administration coordinator.

“This program is also ideal for those who support nonprofit organizations by serving as board members, volunteers or donors. Gaining a more complete understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the nonprofit sector will help people more effectively assist nonprofits,” he said.

The certificate can be obtained through online courses on a part-time or full-time basis. Students in the program will also be eligible to work on a national certification and professional credential.

Offered through a partnership with WKU Cohort Programs, the program begins in spring 2013. Those interested should visit www.wku.edu/cohort/nonprofit.

WKU Cohort Programs is a unit of Extended Learning & Outreach.
