Aligning with WKU’s strategic plan to impact regional and state growth and quality of life, the Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) is restructuring two offices. The Center for Training & Development will now be Career & Workforce Development, and Continuing Education will now be Lifelong Learning. Both will make up the new unit of Continuing and Professional Development, created to facilitate significant growth in the area of noncredit offerings.
Associate Vice President of Extended Learning & Outreach Beth Laves said that this reorganization is the result of feedback from community leaders and internal WKU leadership. “This new structure will better position the University to meet a wider range of needs, from personal enhancement to career credentials,” Laves said.
According to Laves, the Continuing & Professional Development unit will support WKU’s mission by expanding the University’s economic impact on the region, providing professional development and lifelong learning opportunities, and building community and regional relationships. “We look forward to building even more partnerships throughout our region,” Laves added.
Career & Workforce Development will administer professional development, workforce training and career development programs. Lifelong Learning will oversee non-credit personal enrichment programs. A search for two new positions is underway. The Director of Distance Learning and Continuing & Professional Development will provide overall direction and vision for the combined unit. A Career & Workforce Development Program Manager will administer development and training programs. Job descriptions are available at www.wku.edu/delo.
