WKU will host its fourth annual CGA/PGAU Golf Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 on the South Lawn.
The expo, part of a partnership between the Collegiate Golf Alliance and the PGA’s Play Golf America University Program to promote golf on college campuses, will include free mini lessons by PGA professionals, skills challenges, contests, hitting stations, a mini course on campus and prizes.
During the Sept. 14 event, WKU students can sign up for the local qualifying tournament to earn an invitation to the National Collegiate Golf Championship in Las Vegas.
The two-person scramble for college students will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Golf Course at Riverview in Bowling Green, while the two-person scramble for faculty/staff and alumni/community teams will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 at Cross Winds Golf Course.
Champions from each division will compete Nov. 9-11 at Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas.
WKU teams have a tradition of success in the NCGC tourney. WKU’s Adam Whitt and Matt Morrison have won two consecutive national titles (2010 and 2011) in the faculty/staff division after finishing as runners-up in 2009. In the faculty/staff division, WKU teams won the title in 2006, were runners-up in 2007 and finished third in 2008. In 2009, WKU teams finished as runners-up in the student division and fifth in the alumni/community division.
