More than 90 WKU and Bowling Green area community leaders submitted their information a few months ago to take part in another collaborative effort. Volunteers agreed to participate in a Speakers Bureau as a way to offer their knowledge and skills by speaking to organizations and classes throughout the area.
The Speakers Bureau (housed at the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships) lists approximately 250 topics that can be presented for educational, informative or professional development purposes. After noting a topic of interest listed on the Center’s website, individuals can call the ALIVE Center to obtain the presenter(s) name and contact information.
Local NAACP Branch president Joshua Hayes said: “The Speakers Bureau is an innovative idea that will truly benefit the community. For organizations such as the NAACP, the Bureau will be used to engage and enhance diverse individuals through knowledge and applicable experience. This population will include our members, others who attend our meetings and/or who are affected by our outreach.”
Hayes, like many organizational leaders, search regularly for speakers at their meetings to discuss topics of interest. The Speakers Bureau allows a one-stop method of finding presenters on topics ranging from social networking to educational leadership.
Visit the Speakers Bureau page at www.wku.edu/alive/speakersbureau.html to view the complete list of topics. Anyone interested in being added to the list of speakers can email alivebg@wku.edu.
