WKYU-PBS, the public television service of WKU, received a record number of nominations in the 2010 Ohio Valley Regional Emmy competition.
WKYU-PBS received six nominations, announced Monday by the Ohio Valley chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Winners will be announced during a July 31 ceremony in Columbus, Ohio.
“We received six nominations in six categories. These nominations are the cumulative effect of a group effort and everyone here shares some level of responsibility for them,” David Brinkley, senior producer/director, said. “We hope to make the station proud in Columbus this year.”
The documentary Mammoth Cave: A Way to Wonder received five nominations, including Cultural/Topical Documentary, Informational/Instructional Program, Photographer, Editor and Lighting. Those responsible for the documentary include Brinkley, Cheryl Shrader Beckley, Jessica Gibbs, Brent Boyens and Vickie Carson.

WKYU-PBS, channel 24.1 and Insight channel 11, is Bowling Green’s local public television service. WKYU-PBS broadcasts the only locally-based, locally-programmed public television service to south central Kentucky and northern Tennessee.
