Public library’s speaker series includes event at Kentucky Library & Museum

The Warren County Public Library will sponsor The World As I See It speaker series starting May 7 and ending Aug. 20.

“The purpose of this series is to feature individuals who work for the common good and challenge us to be better world citizens,” said Lisa Rice, public library director. “Speakers were chosen for their contributions to humanitarian, environmental, and charitable causes.”

Journalist Nick Clooney will start the series with “Journey to Darfur: Beyond the Documentary” at 6 p.m. May 7 at the Main Library at 1225 State St.

Other speakers in the series include NPR correspondent Doug Fine who will speak on June 11 about his “Adventures as a Novice Environmentalist.” Photojournalist Linda Schaefer speaks on July 23 about her experience with the “World of Mother Teresa.” The series ends on Aug. 20 with HGTV host Vern Yip whose topic will be “Deserving Design: Rewarding Those Who Help Others.”

All events are free and open to the public. The Nick Clooney and Vern Yip events require tickets that will be available at the Main Library and the Bob Kirby Branch.

Events will be held at the Main Library with the exception of Vern Yip who will speak at the Kentucky Library and Museum. Event sponsors include WKYU, Kentucky Library and Museum, and Liberty Printing.
